1. Contest Categories
Participants have the option to choose from three distinct categories:

Essay Writing (Under 18)
– Minimum Word Count: 300 words
– Maximum Word Count: 1,200 words
– Language Options: Participants may use Tagalog, English, or Taglish
– The participant must be an individual (1 person only)
– Submission Requirement: An essential aspect of the submission are original images, graphics or photographs that relates to the essay’s topic

Proposal Writing
– Maximum Word Count: The proposals should not exceed 5,000 words.
– Language Options: Participants may use Tagalog, English, or Taglish
– Participants may be an individual or a maximum of five (5) people from any age.
– Submission Requirement: A prerequisite for submission is the inclusion of an original image or graphic of the participant or the proposed idea.
– Language Options: Participants may use Tagalog, English, or Taglish

2. Submission Guidelines
a. All entries must be submitted via email to [email protected] on or before February 29, 2024 at 5:00PM Manila Time.
b. When sending the email, participants are required to include their name and the chosen category (e.g., “Juan Torres – Essay Writing”) in the subject line for Essays and the Proposal title for Proposals (e.g. “Building Better Throwers Proposal”).
c. Submitted work can be composed in either Tagalog, English, or Taglish.
d. Each participant is permitted to submit a single entry for each category. This means a participant may join both the essay and proposal categories.
Participants of the Essay Under 18 Category must be under 18 years old on February 29, 2024.

f. Word count requirements must be observed to qualify for the contest.
g. By submitting an entry, participants agree that all submitted content, including the image/graphic, must be original and owned by the participant and has not been published or used for another purpose.
h. By submitting their work, participants acknowledge and accept that the contest organizer becomes the rightful owner of both the submitted image/graphic and the associated essay or proposal.
i. Participants also acknowledge that the contest organizer reserves the right to publish the entry in any form, including but not limited to online platforms, print media, and promotional materials, without any additional compensation to the participant.

3. Judging Criteria
Entries in each category will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Essay Writing:
– Content and Relevance (30 points): The quality and pertinence of the content to the chosen topic.
– Writing Style and Clarity (25 points): The lucidity, flow, and creative expression in the writing.
– Originality (20 points): The degree of uniqueness and the introduction of fresh perspectives.
– Grammar and Spelling (15 points): The correct usage of grammar and spelling.
– Inclusion of Image/Photo (10 points): The relevance and quality of the included image or photograph.

Proposal Writing
– Content and Significance (25 points): The significance and feasibility of the proposal.
– Clarity and Organization (25 points): The clarity of the proposal’s structure and organization.
– Innovation (25 points): The demonstration of creativity and originality in the proposal.
– Grammar and Spelling (15 points): The appropriate use of grammar and spelling.
– Inclusion of Image/Photo (10 points): The relevance and quality of the included image(s) or photograph(s).

4. Prizes
1. First Place in each category (Gold): 15,000 Pesos Cash + Throwing Implements
2. Second Place in each category (Silver): 8,000 Pesos Cash + Throwing Implements
3. Third Place in each category (Bronze): 5,000 Pesos Cash + Throwing Implements
5. Deadline
All submissions must reach us by February 29, 2024 at 5:00PM Manila Time.
6. Announcement of Winners
Winners will be publicly revealed on (TBD) via the contest’s official website, the 5 Throws For All Facebook Page, and through email notifications. An awarding ceremony will be scheduled for this purpose.

7. Rights and Ownership
Upon submission, participants grant full ownership of the submitted image(s) or photograph(s), as well as the accompanying essay or proposal, to 5 Throws For All.

9. Disqualification
Entries that do not adhere to the contest regulations, guidelines, or contain inappropriate content will be disqualified.

10. Disclaimer
The contest organizer retains the authority to adjust these rules and mechanics when deemed necessary, and the judgments made by the panel of judges are conclusive. It is important to acknowledge that the contest will only proceed if the minimum required number of participants is met. If the minimum participation threshold is not reached, the organizer reserves the right to either postpone or cancel the contest as deemed appropriate.
